The Clark University was founded in 1887 in Worcester, Massachusetts. The university is a private research university globally recognised for its outstanding educational standard.
On January 17, 1887, reputable American businessman Jonas Gilman Clark made his intention known to find and support a university in the city of Worcester, filing a petition in the Massachusetts Legislature requesting for a charter for Clark University. An Act of Incorporation was duly passed by the legislature and marked by the governor on March 31, of 1887. Clark, a friend of Leland Stanford, was said to be motivated by the plans for Stanford University and founded the university with an endowment of one million dollars, and later counted another million dollars because he thought the university might someday face a lack of funds.
